Yayasan Bumi Sehat's very own winner of CNN Hero of 2011, founder Robin Lim, is an internationally-recognized midwife and well-known author. Since opening a non-profit birthing clinic in Ubud, Bali, through the Bumi Sehat foundation in 2003, Robin and her team have saved hundreds of lives and delivered thousands of babies. They serve both the poor and medically disadvantaged people of Bali and in a separate clinic many of the survivors of the 2004 tsunami, thousands of miles away in the ravaged province of Aceh. In 2006, discussions with village women led Robin to expand her focus from childbirth, and look at ways to help local youth, including some of the children she had delivered years before.

Many of these centers, such as Bumi Sehat’s Youth Center, find the input from foreign volunteers invaluable. Their contribution helps the centers expand and the Indonesian students are stimulated by the interaction with people from other countries. Bumi Sehat Youth Center is currently expanding its volunteering programs, offering teaching positions to competent travelers and locals who wish to contribute to the classes offered by the center. Before they leave their own country and throughout their volunteer placement, International and Indonesian volunteer coordinators provide support to all the Center’s volunteers. This includes help with social visas, accommodation, and in-classroom teaching assistance.

Bumi Sehat Youth Center is entirely run and developed with the assistance of volunteers from abroad. People from all over the world (15 different countries in the last 4 years) have come to give their time and knowledge to help teach the children of Ubud regency. All classes held at the center are free of charge for all children attending.

Our volunteers can choose to be part of teaching english , computer basics, organic farming and other activitives like art or music at the Youth Center.

Volunteers can also be part of a local pre-School teaching basic English in Ubud.

Youth Center's new Organic Farm has now started in Nyuh Kuning, Ubud. See the lastest on our facebook page
